Independent Living Skills

From £285 Per Person

10 Weeks

10x Half Day (3 hour) sessions

Many schools have started to gather feedback, showing many students are not developing their life skills in school through direct academic learning.

Life skills are generally developed through a combination of peer learning, regular and natural practice, demand for the skills, and social development.

However, for Neurodiverse people especially, this is quite likely to be harder to achieve. The demands of academia, social interactions, self-awareness, sensory inputs, and dealing with the challenges from this probably puts life skill a bit further down the priority list. Then, before you know it, you're out of education, and the demand to have these skills is critical and needed immediately.

This is where the workshop comes in.

We have designed this workshop to be an introduction, starting to build the skills necessary to make practising your life skills a little less daunting.

During the 10 week workshop we will:

1. Reflect on what we know so far
2. Set SMART Goals to start achieving tasks which build toward our independence
3. Start to explore a safe living environment
4. Practice how we respond in emergency situations
5. Build our own 'Grab Sheets' with the essentials to staying safe at home
6. Explore budgeting, bank accounts, and saving money
7. Role-play in a demo living space
8. Plan how we manage our time
9. Develop some team-working skills
10. Have fun while learning some new life skills
